The Collapse was a brief period, spanning less than decades, in which the global nation of Gold Age Azrune fell apart. Although much of the breakaway process led to bloodshed, some of the secessions and rebellions were resolved peacefully. The breakdown of structure resulted in a number of wars between the successor states. It was this series of inter-descendent conflicts, as opposed to fights with Azrune, that largely obliterated the old Gold Age infastructure across the majority of the world.
After the turmoil subsided, several hundred years of relative calm followed in which much of the shattered world beyond Azrune was rebuilt. This period was known as the The Long Aftermath.
